400 cc engine for Bajaj Triumph motorcycle?

Bajaj-Triumph is set to launch new motorcycles on June 27 in the UK, and it has been reported that these bikes will feature a brand new 400cc single-cylinder engine. The engine will be developed specifically for this platform and will not be connected to any existing or future powertrains from KTM. The engine is expected to provide a strong mid-range punch and effortless riding, as opposed to the high rpm rush of KTM engines.

The new engines will feature larger capacity and liquid-cooling, making them more advanced and powerful than the 350s from Royal Enfield. Bajaj and Triumph will be looking to compete against Royal Enfield in the Indian market, with pricing being a key factor in the bikes’ success. The bikes will be available in two flavours, a modern retro roadster and a larger scrambler, both of which have been spotted on Indian roads in close-to-production trim.

Bajaj has been trying to break into this space for years without much success, but the upcoming launch of the Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles is expected to change that. Production is expected to begin in India soon after the launch.
