Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma has landed in trouble after a video of her taking a bike ride without wearing a helmet went viral on social media. In the video, Sharma’s bodyguard, Sonu Shaikh, is seen riding the bike without a helmet. The incident took place on the streets of Mumbai, where the actress preferred riding on a bike over travelling in a car due to a roadblock.
According to a Times Now report, Mumbai Traffic Police imposed a fine of Rs 10,500 on Shaikh and issued a challan against him under Sec 129/194, Sec 5/180 & Sec 3(1)18. Mumbai Traffic Police confirmed that the fine was paid by the rider.
Anushka Sharma is not the only celebrity who has been caught riding a bike without a helmet. Recently, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan was also spotted riding pillion on a motorbike without a helmet. However, the veteran actor clarified that he did not break any rules as it was a location shoot on the streets of Mumbai and formal permission was taken for the shoot.
The incident has sparked a debate on social media, with many netizens criticising the celebrities for not wearing helmets while riding a bike. Mumbai Police has taken cognisance of the matter and issued a challan against the vehicle rider along with a fine of Rs 10,500.
Meanwhile, Anushka Sharma is set to make her acting comeback with the biopic of former cricketer Jhulan Goswami titled ‘Chakda Xpress’. The film will have a digital release on Netflix.
