Ather 450s electric scooter launched

Ather Energy, the Indian electric vehicle manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest offering, the Ather 450S. Priced at Rs 1,29,999, this new electric scooter aims to provide a more affordable option for consumers. Starting in July, interested buyers can make bookings for the Ather 450S, which is expected to cater to a wider range of commuters in the country.

Equipped with a 3 kWh battery pack, the Ather 450S boasts a claimed range of 115 km under Indian Driving Conditions. Additionally, the scooter is said to have a top speed of 90 km/h, delivering impressive performance for riders. Ather Energy promises that despite being a more budget-friendly variant, the 450S will still incorporate the best technology and performance features found in its segment.

While the full technical specifications of the Ather 450S are yet to be disclosed, it is likely to be a simplified version of the 450X model. This means that some of the advanced features present in the higher-priced 450X variant may not be included in the 450S.

In other news, Ather Energy has made adjustments to the pricing of its 450X product line following revisions to the FAME-II subsidy framework. The FAME-II subsidy, which has played a crucial role in accelerating electric vehicle adoption in India, now offers a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kWh, with a maximum limit of 15 percent of the ex-factory price.

Ravneet S. Phokela, the Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, stated that the revised prices for the 450X models will take effect immediately. The Ather 450X with the Pro Pack, which was previously priced at Rs 1,65,000 (ex-showroom Bangalore), will continue to be available at a marginally higher price than the rates in March 2023.
