Ather to launch 3 new electric scooters on Aug 11

As we all know, Electric vehicles are the future. In India, there are a lot of brands which are launching Electric vehicles and constantly working on them to improve the technology. Ather Energy is one such brand.

Ather Electric was Co-founded in 2013 by IIT graduates – Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain and their first electric scooter which was the Ather 450 was launched in 2018. Ather has come a long way since its launch and has improved a lot. They have developed a reputation in the Indian electric scooter market.

Now, Ather is all set to launch not one, not two but three new electric scooters in the Indian market. The launch for three of them is scheduled on August 11.

Ather electric posted a teaser on their social media platforms highlighting that they are going to launch 3 new scooters in the Indian market. The teaser was in a fun way and did not give any details about the new launches except that they will have more torque, more power and more range. These are some key factors people consider while buying an electric scooter. Details for what will be launched or any key features of the scooters are still unknown.

We are sure that one of these 3 scooters is the Ather 450S which is going to be the most affordable scooter in the Ather lineup. The prices for Ather 450S starts at Rs. 1.30 lakh. This scooter competes with other popular players such as Ola S1 Air and TVS iQube. Ather 450S aims at targeting the budget electric scooter market and giving people the premium experience of Ather in a much more affordable price. For reference, the Ather 450X is priced at Rs. 1.44 lakh.

However, the Ather 450S lacks some features when compared to the Ather 450X. The 450S will have a simpler LCD instrument panel and more basic features. Features like Google Maps and smartphone connectivity are highly unlikely to be added in the Ather 450S.

Infrastructure for electric vehicles is still very underdeveloped in India. To overcome this problem, Ather Energy has collaborated with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to support its EV charging infrastructure. Making use of BPCL’s vast network of over 21,000 fuel stations across India, the partnership aims to facilitate the installation of Ather’s public fast-charging Grid.
Talking about Ather, the company has done sales of over 7800 units in July itself. This is about 21% growth when compared to sales figure of June 2023. The number for yearly growth stand at 229% which shows that people are starting to adapt the EV technology and EV’s can soon take over the ICE’s.
